Week two re-cap
On December 17, 2022 the Arena Lacrosse League West Womens held their second weekend of games at the Langley Field House; on the unceeded Traditional Territory of the Kwantlen, Katzie, Semiahmoo, and Matsqui First Nations. To honor the passing of Team Deer coach Cherlyn Dawn Billy, the players, fans and coaches took to the floor to form a sharing circle and had a moment of silence; with some friends and family sharing words about their loved one.

The first game was Team Deer vs Team Hawks that took place at 1:00 pm. Team Deer were playing for CB, and played with a lot of heart throughout the game. Deer goal tender #00 Julie Spooner had a remarkable game with 54 saves. Hawks goalie #00 Julia Friesen had an impressive 28 saves to help the Hawks with their win. Hawks defeated the Deer 8 to 5.

The second game was Team Flying Squirrels vs Team Turtles that took place at 2:40 pm. Both teams fought hard all game, and played with heart. Goal tender for the Turtles # 00 Ryleigh Sadler made an amazing 31 saves. Goal tender for the Flying Squirrels #1 Dorothy Paul, stood on her head with 45 saves to help her team secure their win. In the end Team Flying Squirrels out played Team Turtles and won 17-8.

The final game of the day was Team Bats vs Team Bears, that took place at 4:20 pm. Both teams put out a great show of their talent and made for an exciting game to watch, as the two teams battled it out for the win. Bats goal tenders were split between #1 Ella Friesen and #00 Annika MacDonald, with a combine saves of 34 between them. Bears goal tender #00 Kristine Renauld had an impressive 22 saves to help the Bears secure their second win of the season. Bears defeated the Bats 9 to 6.
