Week 6 recap

On January 28th, 2023, the Arena Lacrosse League West Women's held their third weekend of games at the Langley Field House; on the unceeded Traditional Territory of the Kwantlen, Katzie, Semiahmoo, and Matsqui First Nations.

he first game on Jan 28th was between the Hawks vs the Deer, that took place at 1:00 pm. Both teams came with high intensity and determination. Hawks goal tender # 00 Julia Friesen with 24 saves, and Team Deer goal tender #00 Julie Spooner with 42 saves!

Hawks point scorers were #4 Bianca Santucci with 2 goals and 1 assist; #7 Jess Caravatta with 1 assist; #8 Raegan Mackenzie with 3 goals and 1 assist; #9 Kiera Scott with 1 goal; #11 Breana Hollingshead with 2 goals and 1 assist; #14 Ruby Charney with 1 assist; and #16 Rylee Mackenzie with 1 goal.

Deer point scorers were #2 Morgan Sherley with 1 goal; #5 Mackenzie Rolland with 2 goals; #7 Emily Odegaard with 1 assist; #8 Elizabeth Sinow with 1 goal and 1 assist; #12 Sydney Fraser with 1 assist; #16 Macie Beck-Boreson with 1 goal and 2 assist; and #20 Kaitlin McDonnell with 1 assist.

The second game was between Team Turtles vs Team Bats, that took place at 2:40 pm. Both teams battled it out and made for an exciting game to watch, leaving fans on their toes.  Turtles goal tenders #00 Ryleigh Sadler and #01 Rhyan Holmes shared an impressive 30 saves between the two. Bats goal tenders #00 Annika McDonnell and #01 Ella Friesen shared a combined 29 saves.

Team Turtles point scorers were #2 Christel Blesch with 1 goal; #3 Gaby Jones with 1 goal; #5 Laura Steenson with 1 assist; #7 Morgan Sherley with 1 goal and 2 assists; #8 Kaila Barteski with 1 goal; #9 Beth Anderson with 1 assist; #10 Amy Ralph with 1 assist; #12 Megan Kinna with 1 goal and 2 assists; #14 amber Haley with 2 goals; #19 Avery Gert with 1 assists; #18 Megan Ewald with 1 goal.

Team Bats point scorers were #5 Meghan Hartley with 2 assists; #9 Nadia Bruno with 1 goal; #15 Elli Forsselius with 1 goal; #17 Carlie Robinson with 1 assist; #18 Danita Stroup with 3 goals.

#18 Danita Stroup from team Bats had the first penalty shot in ALL West Women's history, she went up against Turtles goaltender #01 Rhyan Holmes, and came up with a beautiful goal!

The third game was between Team Flying Squirrels vs Team Bears that took place at 4:25 pm. Both teams played well and fought hard. Team Flying Squirrels goal tender #01 Dorothy Paul with an impressive 32 saves. Team Bears goal tender #00 Rhyan Holmes with an amazing 36 saves.

Team Flying Squirrels point scorers were #6 Daniella Carey with 2 goals and 1 assist; #10 Michela Patterson with 1 goal and 2 assists; #11 Ava Regan with 1 goal and 1 assist; #15 Veronica Richardson with 1 assist; #17 Ashely Bull with 3 goals and 1 assist. 

Team Bears point scorers were #3 Christel Blesch with 2 goals and 1 assist; #8 Delaney Davidson with 6 goals; #9 Jordan Bolam with 1 assist; #15 Beth Anderson with 2 goals and 2 assist; #18 Kelsey Cuje with 1 assist; #19 Hope Pay with 1 assist; #20 Danita Stroup with 1 assist; and #00 Rhyan Holmes with 1 assist.
