Week 5 Recap

On January 21th, 2023, the Arena Lacrosse League West Women's held their third weekend of games at the Langley Field House; on the unceeded Traditional Territory of the Kwantlen, Katzie, Semiahmoo, and Matsqui First Nations.

To help support an event being hosted by the Urban Native Youth Association we collecting gently used clothes, shoes and accessories, on our  first three games in January. Collecting bags of items donated from families and players.


The first game on Jan 14th was between the Hawks vs the Flying Squirrels, that took place at 1:00 pm. Both teams came with high intensity and determination. Hawks goal tender #00 Julia Friesen had an impressive 34 saves and Flying Squirrels goal tender #00 Madison Kaska and #01 Dorothy Paul had a combination of 26 saves. Team Flying Squirrel defeats Team Hawks 10 to 8.

Team Hawks point scorers were #2 Tiana Bikic with 1 goal and 1 assist; #4 Bianca Santucci with 1 goal and 1 assist; #8 Raegan Mackenzie with 1 goal and 2 assists; #11 Breana Hollingshead with 1 goal and 1 assist; #14 Ruby Charney with 1 goal and 1 assist; #16 Rylee Mackenzie with 1 goal and 2 assists; and #18 Kameko Hall with 2 goals.

Team Flying Squirrel point scorers were #5 Mariah Whitfield with 1 goal and 2 assists; #7 Ashley Stuart with 1 assist; #8 Finch Philbrook with 1 assist; #10 Charlie Dayman with 1 assist; #11 Ava Regan with 1 assist; #12 Megan Stewart with 2 goals; #15 Samatha Taylor with 1 assist; #16 Harlow Steele with 4 goals and 2 assits; #17 Ashley Bull with 3 goals and 4 assists; #19 Maise Bruce with 1 assist and #00 Madison Kokoska with 1 assist.

The second game was between Team Turtles vs Team Deer, that took place at 2:40 pm. Both teams battled it out and made for an exciting game to watch, leaving fans on their toes. Team Turtles goal tenders #00 Ryleigh Sadler and #01 Rhyan Holmes with a combined 29 saves. Team Deer goal tender #00 Julie Spooner with an amazing 36 saves. The Turtles defeated the Deer 11 to 2.

Team Turtles point scorers were #3 Gaby Jones with 1 goal and 1 assist; #5 Laura Steenson with 1 assist; #6 Taylor Hamilton with 1 goal; #7 Morgan Sherley with 2 assists; #8 Kayla Barteski with 2 assists; #9 Beth Anderson with 2 goals and 1 assist; #11 Haley Penner with 2 goals; #12 Megan Kinna with 2 goals;  #13 Makena Adrian with 1 goal; #14 Amber Haley with 2 goals; #20 Saskia Aunger with 2 assists; and #00 Ryleigh Sadler with 1 assist.

Team Deer point scorers are #2 Mary McQueen with 2 goals; #4 Alex Paterson with 1 assist; and #00 Julie Spooner with 1 assist.

The third game was between Team Bats vs Team Bears that took place at 4:25 pm. Both teams played well and fought hard. Bats goal tender #00 Annika MacDonald and #01 Ella Friesen with a combined 26 saves, and Bears goalie Kristine Renauld  with 20 saves. The Bats defeat the Bears 13 to 4.

Bats point scorers were #3 Devyn Hartley with 1 goal; #4 Naomi Walser with 1 goal; #5 Megan Hartley with 2 goals and 1 assist; #6 Rory Rothie with 1 goal and 1 assist; #7 Taylor Murrell with 1 goal and 1 assist; #8 Mady Nugent with 1 goal and 1 assist; #16 Alivia Ungaro with 2 goal and 1 assist; #17 Carlie Robinson with 3 goals; #18 Danita Stroup with 1 assist; #00 Ella Friesen with 1 assist; and #19 Adrainna Santucci with 1 goal and 1 assist.

Bears point scorers #7 Nicole Pahnke with 1 goal; #8 Delaney Davidson with 2 goals and 1 assist; #18 Kelsey Cuje with 1 goal; and #00 Kristine Renauld with 1 assist.
