Week 3 Recap

On December 16th, 2023, the Arena Lacrosse League West Women's held their 3rd week of games at the Langley Field House; on the unceeded Traditional Territory of the Kwantlen, Katzie, Semiahmoo, and Matsqui First Nations.

The first game of the day was against the Bears against the Turtles. Both teams played a well matched game, but in the end the Bears beat out the Turtles 6 to 4. This was the first time these two teams played each other in the 3rd season of the WALL West. Bears goal tender #00 Candace McDole came up with 24 saves during the game. Turtles goal tender #00 Julia Friesen had a whomping 23 saves.

The second game of the day was the Flying Squirrels against the Bats. The Flying Squirrels came out determined and ready to play, came away early in the game with the lead. The Flying Squirrels beat the Bats 14 to 2, really showing the difference practicing as a team can make. Flying Squirrels goal tender #00 Rhyan Holmes with 13 saves, and #1 Darcie Conkin with 14 saves. Bats goal tender #00 Darya Saed with 24 saves and #1 Ella Friesen with 12 saves.

The third game of the day was the Hawks vs the Deer, this was the first time these two teams played each other in the 3rd season of the WALL West. Both teams played a well matched start of the game, and the Hawks were able to get a few goals on the Deer and held them off for the remainder of the game. In the end the Hawks beat the Deer 8 to 2. Hawks goal tender #00 Cloe Etienne with 21 saves, and #1 Darcie Conkin with 5 saves in the fourth quarter. Deer goal tender #00 Mady Morrison with 17 saves, and #1 Dorothy Paul with 14 saves.

The last game of the day was the Bears vs the Bats. This was each teams second game of the day, and both benches were short on runners. The game came down too ball control and powering through together. In the end the Bears defeated the Bats 8 to 1. Bats goal tender #00 Darya Saed with 16 saves, and #1 Ella Friesen with 9 saves. Bears goal tender #00 Candace McDole with 11 saves, and #1 Kara Goertz with 18 saves. 

The league is in their Holiday break, and wishes everyone a Merry Christmas. We will be back in action on Jan 6th at the Langley Field House, we hope to see you at the action!
