The Arena Lacrosse League East Game Recaps - Week 2

The Arena Lacrosse League East had four big match-ups for their week 2 schedule.
Friday Night at the Memorial Arena in Brampton, Ontario:
Oshawa Outlaws 13 Brampton Express 12
Gareth Haigh led the Outlaws to a 5-2 first quarter lead with a hat-trick in the quarter. Brampton fought back within one with Pent Eistrat and Curtis Ward leading the charge for the Express. While the Outlaws again took charge in the later stages of the second quarter, a late goal from Emmet Ross had Brampton within two at the intermission.
While the Outlaws looked to run away with the game with a four goal run in the third quarter, Brampton wouldn't be outdone with four of their own in the fourth, led by Zach Sunderland with three of them. The Outlaws looked to put it out of reach with a goal from Zach Terry late in the game, but goals from Sunderland and Gage Board had the Express within one with 0:12 seconds remaining. Oshawa staved off the Brampton comeback, and were able to hold on for the 13-12 victory.
Gareth Haigh (4g,3a), and Zach Terry (4g,1a) led the way for the Outlaws, with Jake Gilmour (1g,5a) as the facilitator.
Zach Sunderland (4g,1a), and Pent Eistrat (2g,1a) led the way for the Express, with both Curtis Ward (0g,3a), and Colin Matthews (1g,3a) as the facilitators.

Saturday Afternoon at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville, Ontario:
Six Nations Snipers 9 Toronto Monarchs 15
The Six Nations Snipers had a good start in this game, getting out to a 6-3 lead in the first quarter. Led by Briley Maxwell and Kealon Pilon, Six Nations put the Monarchs on their heals in the opening frame.
The second quarter was a different story, with Toronto starting to control the flow of the game. A goal from Riley Ford, plus two power-play markers from Tanner Buck had this game tied at the half.
The Monarchs completely dominated the third quarter, outscoring the Snipers 8-2, led by Nate Senez and Tanner Buck. Defensively, Toronto tightened up as well only allowing eight shots by the Six Nations squad.
Although there was limited scoring in the fourth quarter, the story was goaltending. Both Jaxon Longboat and Sam Haines were exceptional in the fourth quarter. Toronto wins 15-9.
Tanner Buck (4g,2a), Riley Ford (3g,1a), and Patrick Thompson (3g,1a) led the way for the Monarchs. Ty Jesso (0g,6a) was the facilitator for the Monarchs.
For Six Nations, Kealon Pilon (4g,2a), Wes Whitlow (2g,3a), Tetsuya Yamada (1g,2a), and Briley Maxwell (2g,0a) found the back of the net.

Sunday at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Haggersville, Ontario:
Early Game:
Whitby Steelhawks 14 Paris RiverWolves 12
In the most anticipated game of the weekend, the Paris RiverWolves hosted the Whitby Steelhawks. Parker Pipher made his presence known immediately scoring three goals for Whitby in the first quarter. Paris was able to keep pace throughout the quarter, with the teams tied 3-3 after one.
The Steelhawks took charge in the second quarter, scoring six of the next eight goals to take a 9-5 lead. The RiverWolves finished the half strong scoring two goals 0:15 seconds apart, with just seconds remaining in the half.
Once again Whitby came out of the intermission strong, scoring three power-play goals to go up 12-7 in the third but Paris would keep fighting.
After the Steelhawks went up 14-8 in the fourth, Paris would finally put together a comeback. Led by Deeland Martin with a pair, the RiverWolves scored four, getting within two late in the quarter. However, Whitby would be able to hold off the challenge for the 14-12 victory.
Owen Orpana (3g,7a), Parker Pipher (6g,4a), and Quinn Hyland (2g,3a) led the way for Whitby.
Deeland Martin (3g,2a), Carson Moyer (3g,a), and Kaymon Diabo (2g,4a) led the way for Paris, with Jake Rosa (1g,6a), and Owen Rice (1g,5a) as the facilitators.

Late Game:
Peterborough Timbermen 19 Ohsweken Bears 16
Ohsweken got off to a strong start leading 3-1 early. The Timbermen got rolling later in the first quarter. Led by Aaron Woods, and Geoff McNulty, Peterborough went on a five goal run, including two power-play goals, and two shorties to take the lead. Woods would continue his strong day scoring another pair to help the Timbermen take a 9-6 lead to halftime.
Cam Milligan joined the Timbermen scoring with a pair in the third quarter giving them a 13-8 lead before the Bears would start to claw their way back.
Led by Shane Halliwell and Eddie Renaud, Ohsweken fought back within two goals at 16-14, but that was as close as it would get. Peterborough scored three of the last five goals to hold on for a 19-16 win.
Cam Milligan (3g,8a), Aaron Woods (5g,4a), Geoff McNulty (4g,4a), and Hawi Francis (3g,1a) led the way for Peterborough, with Zach Thompson (1g,8a) being the facilitator.
Eddie Renaud (3g,3a), Shane Halliwell (4g,2a), and Xander De La Ronde (3g,1a) led the offense for Ohsweken, with Dante Kulas (1g,7a) being the quarterback.
