The Arena Lacrosse League East Game Recaps - Week 1

The Arena Lacrosse League East opened their 2025-2026 season with four big match-ups this week.
Thursday Night:
Ohsweken Bears 18 Six Nations Snipers 11
A very evenly played game through one quarter. Tied 1-1, Cheyton King gave Six Nations the lead with a power-play goal, followed by Wes Whitlow increasing the lead to two early in the second. The Bears would soon storm back. A five goal run led by Xander De La Ronde changed the complexion of the game. The Snipers kept fighting but were trailing 9-7 at the half.
In the second half, Six Nations pulled within one goal on a shorthanded blast from Tetsuya Yamada, but Ohsweken pulled away for good with a six goal run in the third. Weylon Abrams led the way as the Bears would end the third in control 15-8. While the Snipers kept pressing, Ohsweken was up for the challenge, finishing with an 18-11 victory.
Rioux Johnson (3g,5a), Josh Sanchez (2g,3a), Xander De La Ronde (4g,2a), Weylon Abrams (3g,2a), Steve Portelli (3g,3a), Shane Halliwell (2g,2a), and Charlie Frattini (1g,3a) scored for Ohsweken.
For the Snipers, Briley Maxwell (4g,3a) led the way, with help from Kealon Pilon (1g,4a), Wes Whitlow (2g,3a), Ethan Fisher (2g,1a), Cheyton King (1g,2a), and Tetsuya Yamada (1g,2a).

Friday Night:
Toronto Monarchs 8 Brampton Express 13
While the Toronto Monarchs opened the scoring just 0:18 seconds into the game, Brampton would flip the script throughout the first quarter. Curtis Ward and Zach Sunderland led the Express, scoring seven of the next eight goals for a 7-2 Brampton lead.
In the second half, although Toronto was able to mount some offense, but the Express had answers for them. Laine Hruska was sensational in net for Brampton only giving up eight goals on the night. Brampton came away with a 13-8 victory.
Zach Sunderland (3g,5a) led the way for the Express, with Curtis Ward (2g,4a), Pent Eistrat (2g,2a), and Carter Coffey (2g,1a) adding to the Brampton offense.
Liam Aston (2g,2a), Tanner Buck (1g,2a), and Ty Jesso (1g,2a) led the way for the Monarchs.

Saturday Afternoon:
Paris RiverWolves 18 Oshawa Outlaws 16
An evenly played first quarter saw Oshawa get out to a 2-0 lead on a pair of goals from Max Macpherson. Paris would come back with a pair of their own from Andy Campbell and Jake Rosa. The next three quarters, however, would be a different story.
The RiverWolves blew the game open scoring six of the next eight goals to take an 8-4 lead late in the second quarter.
Oshawa would come out strong in the third quarter to get within one goal at 12-11. Jake Rosa and Brett Kloepfer led the Outlaws in the comeback bid. However, a fourth quarter hat-trick from Kaymon Diabo would send Paris to an 18-16 victory.
Jake Rosa (5g, 4a) and Kaymon Diabo (5g,4a) led the way for Paris, with Carson Moyer (3g,5a), and Andy Campbell (3g,2a) helping the cause.
For the Outlaws, Zach Terry (5g,2a), Braydon Hickey (2g,2a), and Brett Kloepfer (3g,1a) led the way, with John St. John (1g,5a) as the facilitator.

Saturday Evening:
Peterborough Timbermen 15 Whitby Steelhawks 9
Although the game was tied 4-4 after one quarter, Peterborough would erupt for nine goals in the next two quarters to blow the game wide open. Led by five goals from Aaron Woods in that thirty minute span, the Timbermen took control of the game. The defenses took over in the fourth quarter, with both teams holding each other to a pair each. Not to be outdone, Jackson Hainer had a spectacular game in net for the Timbermen, holding a potent Whitby offense to only nine goals in the game. The Timbermen win 15-9.
Aaron Woods (5g,3a), and Austin Lamoureux (4g, 3a) led the way for Peterborough, with Zach Thompson(1g,5a) as the facilitator. Owen Orpana (3g,0a), and Nic Farrus (2g,1a) led the way for Whitby in this game.
