Sea Spray score late, edge Grizzlies

The Sea Spray scored the final three goals – including twice in a six-second span – rallying to defeat the Grizzlies 12-10 on Sunday at Langley Events Centre.

Trailing 10-9 with less than five minutes to play, Trevayne Hunter tied the game before Thomas Jeck notched the winner with Tyrell Hamer-Jackson winning the ensuing face-off and making a beeline for the net and putting his team up by a pair with 2:26 remaining.

The win improved the Sea Spray to 2-1 while the Grizzlies sit at 1-2 in Arena Lacrosse League West Division action.

Thomas Semple was the first star following a hat trick and six points while Hunter was the second star with two goals and six points. James Rahe (2-5) led the team with seven points, Hamer-Jackson had a pair of goals (and won 16 of 26 face-offs) with Vinny Ricci (1-2) and Nathan Ma (1-1) completing the scoring.

Lee Jackman made 44 saves in the Sea Spray goal while his counterpart, Christian Del Bianco, had 49 saves on 61 shots for the Grizzlies.

Offensively, Erik Forsselius scored a hat trick for the Grizzlies with Toru Morimatsu (the game’s third star) chipping in a goal and two helpers. Aidan Baker and Kyle Brunsch both had a goal and an assist with Nash Moog, Noah Buchan, Mitchell Nolet and Dylan Doucette adding a goal apiece.

Week 4: All four teams will be in action on Saturday, November 30 with the Grizzlies (1-2) against the Black Fish (0-3) at 1:00pm while the Shooting Eagles (3-0) take on the Sea Spray (2-1) at 4:00pm. Both games are at Langley Events Centre.
