Monarchs Edge Express in Instant Classic, Advance to Final

The Toronto Monarchs are headed to the ALL Final after surviving a furious late push from the Brampton Express, earning a 10–9 victory in a thrilling Arena Lacrosse League semi-final.

Toronto needed all four quarters—and every ounce of composure—to close this one out.

Brampton came out flying, setting the tone early with a three-goal run in the opening frame. After Nathan Laycock opened the scoring for the Monarchs, the Express responded quickly. James Whiteford tied the game, before Zach Sunderland and Carter Coffey capitalized to give Brampton a 3–1 lead. The Express looked sharp, aggressive, and in control.

But the game turned in the second quarter—and it turned fast.

Toronto found another gear.  Sparked by the playmaking of Jordan Dance, the Monarchs erupted for five goals in the frame. Noah Kearney struck twice, Cody Inness converted on the power play, as Toronto flipped a two-goal deficit into a 7–5 halftime lead.

Brampton pushed back in the third, cutting into the lead, but Laycock’s second goal of the day restored a cushion and kept Toronto in front.

Early in the fourth, the Monarchs looked to have taken full control. Mason Kamminga extended the lead, and Inness added his second power-play goal to make it 10–6.

But the Express weren’t done.

In a dramatic late surge, Brampton clawed their way back into the game. Sunderland struck shorthanded, Pent Eistrat followed with his second of the night, and Curtis Ward buried a power-play goal to bring the Express within one. Suddenly, a game that seemed decided was hanging in the balance.
With the deficit cut to 10–9 and time winding down, Brampton pressed for the equalizer.

The Monarchs locked things down defensively in the final minutes, killing off pressure and managing possession to secure the one-goal victory.
