Joel Johnson Named 2024 ALL East Coach of the Year
Joel Johnson of the ALL East Cup Champions Whitby Steelhawks has been selected by his peers as the 2024 ALL East Coach of the Year. Johnson and his staff, Brad Reed and Ryan Degerdon along with General Manager Will Petschenig led the Steelhawks to an overall record of 16 and 1 with the lone loss lost coming in the last minute against the Oshawa Outlaws in week 5 of the 2024 regular season. Johnson and his Steelhawks would get their revenge with a hard fought 13-10 win over those pesky Outlaws in the ALL East Cup Final.
For Johnson this was his second year at the helm of the Steelhawks, guiding them to a 9 and 5 record in 2023. But it was 2024 where it all came together for Johnson and his group. GM Will Petschenig had this to say about Johnson when informed of Joel being named coach of the year.
"A very well deserving honour for a person who dedicates so much time effort to the game of lacrosse. Joel demonstrated tremendous character through a difficult time in his life after the passing of his father Barry prior to our opening game. His leadership, passion and perseverance came to the forefront and I think all of our players would agree there is not a more deserving winner than Joel; winning the ALL East Cup was the icing on the cake"
Johnson's Coach of the Year will be captured by a Commemorative Ring design by Baron Rings, the official ring supplier of the Arena Lacrosse League. On behalf of the ALL and Baron Rings we congratulate Joel for being named the 2024 ALL East Coach of the Year!
