Jamie Dubrick the 2020 ALL Coach of the Year
Jamie Dubrick of the Paris RiverWolves has been named the 2020 Arena Lacrosse League Coach of the Year. Dubrick, in his fourth year as the Head Coach and General Manager of the RiverWolves, was selected by his GM/coaching peers in a league wide vote narrowly edging out Whitby Steelhawks Head Coach and General Manager Gavin Prout. Darcy Powless of the Six Nations Snipers finished third.
"It's a honour to present Jamie Dubrick this prestigious award," stated ALL President Paul St. John. "Both Jamie and Gavin were having terrific seasons with their respective teams and the voting reflected that. The neat thing is both voted for each other as the top coach and this just shows the respect they had for the seasons their teams were having."
The RiverWolves who have been the ALL Cup runners up the past two seasons, were again setting their sights on the playoffs when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, putting the ALL season on hold and possibly forcing a cancellation. The RiverWolves at 8-4 were in second place at the stoppage and had clinched a spot in the semifinals.
"What I really like about Jamie is that he has really matured as a coach over his four years with the ALL," St. John added. "Jamie has learned to take the good and bad in stride and has put his positive energy into developing his players into NLL regulars. He has sent over 10 players to the pros and was very instrumental in rejuvenating Mike Burke's career who is now a top player with the Halifax Thunderbirds. Jamie is ready for a shot at the professional level and it's only a matter of time when a NLL General Manager will see the great job Jamie has done in the ALL and promote him to their bench."
