Bronze Game Recap

On February 18th, 2023, the Arena Lacrosse League West Women's held their final weekend of games at the Langley Field House; on the unceeded Traditional Territory of the Kwantlen, Katzie, Semiahmoo, and Matsqui First Nations.

The first ever bronze match for the Arena Lacrosse League Wets Women's was against Team Hawks vs Team Turtles. Both teams came out with a passion and determination to not let off the heat. Truly showcasing female box lacrosse and the talented players here in British Columbia that are paving the way for future generations of female box lacrosse players. Team Hawks coming into the game with 5 wins and 3 loses. Team Turtles entering the final game with 4 wins and 4 loses.

Game started at 4:25 pm at the Langley Field House with the first goal of the game being scored by Turtles #12 Megan Kinna with assist by #17 Garrett Atkins. Team Hawks answered back to tied the game up 1-1 with goal by #2 Tiana Bikic. Team Hawks goal tender #01 Julie Friesen with 9 saves and Team Turtles goaltender #00 Ryliegh Sadler with 6 saves.

The second quarter started with Team Turtles #12 Megan Kinna with the first goal of the quarter; quickly answered back by Team Hawks #19 Sienna Prestia with assist by #14 Ruby Charney. Team Turtles didn't let up and scored another three goals to wrap up the second quarter 2-5 for the Turtles. With goals scored by #12 Megan Kinna with assist by #9 Beth Anderson; goal scored by#12 Megan Kinna with assist by #19 Kaitlin McDonnell; and the final goal of the quarter scored by #6 Taylor Hamilton with assist by #14 Amber Haley. Team Hawks goal tender #01 Julie Friesen with 8 saves and Team Turtles goaltender #00 Ryliegh Sadler with 3 saves.

The third quarter was a well played quarter with the Hawks scoring one goal and holding the Turtles to only two goals. Hawks goal was scored by # 12 Lauren Komboldt with assist by #19 Sienna Prestia. Turtles third quarter goals were both scored by # 7 Morgan Sherley with assists by #11 Haley Penner, #12 Megan Kinna and #14 Amber Haley. Team Hawks goal tender #01 Julie Friesen with 14 saves and Team Turtles goaltender #01 Rhyan Holmes with 8 saves.

The final quarter team Turtles came with a fire and scored four goals securing their 3rd place win against the Hawks. Making the Turtles the first team to received the 3rd place in the Arena Lacrosse League West Women's! Goals scored by # 14 Amber Haley with assist by #12 Megan Kinna. Second goal scored by #7 Morgan Sherley with assist by #9 Beth Anderson. Third goal scored by #9 Beth Anderson with assist by #2 Kailia Barteski. Turtles final goal of the game scored by #12 Megan Kinna with assist by #9 Beth Anderson. Turtles defeated Hawks 11-3. Team Hawks goal tender #01 Julie Friesen with 6 saves and Team Turtles goaltender #01 Rhyan Holmes with 6 saves.
