The Express coming to Brampton as team unveils nickname & logo

by Lance Winn

The Arena Lacrosse League is proud to announce the new Brampton franchise in the ALL East has been nicknamed the Express.

"As with all new teams we search for the right team nickname that would complement the city and Brampton has had a long railway history that began back in the mid 1800's and operated for well over 150 years before closing in 2021," stated ALL President Paul St. John. "We wanted to commemorate that history with the Express name. We are confident that residents of Brampton will embrace our newest franchise in the ALL."

Express General Manager and Head Coach Jeff Dowling had a hand in the naming of the team along with his management staff.

"We were looking for a traditional type of nickname, something that represented the city of Brampton and its history. We had bantered around a few;Todd (Assistant Coach Todd Wilfong), suggested the Express and it stuck, our group liked the name, the league approved it and then we went to work to finalize team colours."

Those colours will be black and grey/silver with a predominate yellow logo and numbers.

"We chose these colours to represent the colours of the old engines of the railway which were predominately black and at times grey/silver, we added in the yellow to give the jersey some pop and to honour one of the colours that is associated with the Brampton Excelsiors, one of the most historic franchises in summer lacrosse," Dowling added.
