Arena Lacrosse League East Game Recaps - Week Nine

The Arena Lacrosse League East continued their 2025-2026 season with four big match-ups in week nine. 

Friday Night at the Memorial Arena in Brampton, Ontario 

Whitby Steelhawks 8  Brampton Express 6

A well played game from both squads, highlighted by the outstanding goaltending of both Ethan Harwood for Whitby, and Laine Hruska for Brampton.  Led by Devin Pipher, the Steelhawks never trailed in this game.  

With Whitby leading 5-3 at the half, the goalies took over in the third quarter.  Neither Harwood, nor Hruska would allow a goal in the frame.  The fourth saw the teams trade a few goals each, but the defensive clinic continued until the final horn.  Whitby edges Brampton 8-6 for their fifth consecutive win.

Devin Pipher (3g,3a) and Parker Pipher (2g,1a) led the Monarchs offense.  

James Whiteford (2g,1a), and Curtis Ward (2g,0a) led the Express.

Saturday at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville, Ontario:

Early Game

Peterborough Timbermen 8  Toronto Monarchs 11

Jordan Dance put on a clinic scoring five times for the Monarchs, while Sam Haines was stellar in the Toronto net making 41 saves in the 11-8 victory.  Zach Thompson and Aaron Woods led the Peterborough offense, which kept it close for almost three full quarters.  

With the game tied late in the third, Jonathan Gagliardi scored unassisted in transition to give the Monarchs the lead going into the fourth quarter.   Noah Kearney would open a two goal lead for Toronto to start the frame, but a tally from Will White brought it back to only a one goal lead.  Jordan Dance would reply with back to back goals to open a three goal spread with 8:38 remaining.   Sam Haines then shut the door on Peterborough, making 9 saves in the final quarter for the 11-8 Monarchs victory. 
Jordan Dance (5g,2a) and Tanner Buck (2g,2a) led the Monarchs, with Ty Jesso (1g,5a) as the facilitator. 

Zach Thompson (2g,3a), and Aaron Woods (3g,1a) were the leaders for Peterborough, with Austin Lamoureux (1g,3a), and Jack McAlpine (1g,3a) as the facilitators.

Late Game 

Oshawa Outlaws 17   Paris RiverWolves 12

An evenly played game had it tied five separate times heading to the third quarter.  Paris took an early lead with Graham Bergsma scoring 1:43 in, but Oshawa would take over with nine straight goals.  Led by three from Zach Terry, the Outlaws took a commanding 16-8 lead.  The RiverWolves tried to get back in the game scoring four of the last five goals, but the hole was just too deep.  Oshawa comes away with a convincing 17-12 win.

Oshawa was led by Zach Terry (5g,2a), Jake Gilmour (3g,5a), Josh Gilray (2g,5a), and John St. John (2g,3a).  Luke Laskiewicz (1g,7a) was the facilitator. 

Paris was led by Tye Argent (2g,6a), Andy Campbell (2g,3a), Graham Bergsma (2g,2a), and Kobe Lahache (2g,0a).

Sunday at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Haggersville, Ontario:

Six Nations Snipers 16  Ohsweken Bears 14

In a game where Ohsweken looked good for almost three full quarters, the Six Nation Snipers mounted a comeback through the fourth quarter scoring eight of the next nine goals.  

With a few minutes left in the third quarter, the Snipers turned the momentum entirely around.  Led by Thunder Hill, Wes Whitlow, and Cheyton King, the Snipers, took a 10-7 deficit, and finished with a 15-11 lead.   The Bears tried to make a late comeback with late goals from Weylon Abrams, Josh Sanchez, and Nicky Snow, but the climb was too steep.  The Snipers win 16-14.

For Six Nations Thunder Hill (4g,1a), Wes Whitlow (2g,3a), and Cheyton King (2g,1a) led the way, with Tetsuya Yamada (1g,4a), and Kealon Pilon (1g,3a) as the facilitators. 

For the Bears, Layne Smith (4g,1a), Shane Halliwell (3g,2a), and Weylon Abrams (2g,2a) led the way, with Josh Sanchez (1g,5a), and Heron Snow (0g,4a) as the facilitators.
