ALL East Weekly Recaps - Week 3
In a shortened Christmas Week, the Arena Lacrosse League East boasted two great games.
Friday night:
At the Memorial Arena in Brampton, Ontario
Oshawa Outlaws 10 Brampton Express 12
This game had a torrid pace right from the start with these two athletic teams. Unlike week one, the Outlaws chemistry was much more fluid. Both goaltenders were solid in net. Ryan Schuetzkowski in net for Oshawa, and the debut of Devlin Shanahan for Brampton, who were tested all evening.
While the Express got out to a 2-0 lead early, the first half was dictated by the speed of Oshawa. Luke Laskiewicz (4g,1a) and Carter Page (2g,3a) led the way with a pair of goals each on the way to a 6-5 lead at the half.
The Game stayed neck and neck until midway through the third quarter, when Brampton finally put together a run led by Jacob Janke (2g,1a), scoring five of the next six goals to take an 11-8 lead in the game. Gareth Haigh (2g,2a) scored a pair of goals late in the game for the Outlaws, but it just wasn't enough. Brampton comes away with a 12-10 victory.
Curtis Ward (3g,4a), Jake McNabb (3g,2a), Zach Sunderland (2g,4a) and Jacob Janke (2g,1a) led the Express offense.
Luke Laskiewicz (4g,1a), Gareth Haigh (2g,2a), and Carter Page (2g,3a) led the charge for Oshawa, with John St. John (0g,5a) as the playmaker.
The Three Stars:
1. Devlin Shanahan (Brampton)
2. Ryan Schuetzkowski (Oshawa)
3. Curtis Ward (Brampton)
Saturday Evening:
At the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Hagersville, Ontario
Peterborough Timbermen 12 Paris RiverWolves 11
In a game that went back and forth all afternoon had Paris with a slight upper hand for almost three quarters. Building as big as a three goal lead, the RiverWolves looked to have the game in control.
In the fourth quarter Peterborough started to gain momentum tying the game early in the quarter. Paris regained the lead only to have the Timbermen tie it 0:40 seconds later. After a lot of end to end action with no scoring, the Timbermen finally got out on top with 3:07 remaining. Carson Moyer (3g,1a) potted the goal off a Zach Thompson pass. Paris tried to tie game but Jackson Hainer in Peterborough's goal was up to the challenge. The Timbermen held on for an exciting 12-11 victory.
Cam Milligan (2g,7a) led the Peterborough offense, with help from Carson Moyer (3g,1a), and Jack McAlpine (3g,3a).
The RiverWolves were led by Kaymen Diabo (3g,2a), Matt Duncan (1g,2a), Dawson Brown (1g,2a), Caden Merritt (1g,2a), and Nick Ellerton (1g,4a).
The Three Stars:
1. Cam Milligan (Peterborough)
2. Jackson Hainer (Peterborough)
