5th place game- recap

On February 18th, 2023, the Arena Lacrosse League West Women's held their final weekend of games at the Langley Field House; on the unceeded Traditional Territory of the Kwantlen, Katzie, Semiahmoo, and Matsqui First Nations.

The first ever 5th place game took place at 1:00 pm at the Langley Field House. Team Bats took on Team Deer for their final game of the 2022-2023 season. Both teams came out with high energy and passion for lacrosse. Throughout the season both teams faced many obstacles and came together as a team. Team Bats came in with 3 wins, 4 loses and 1 tied. Team Deer came in with 1 win and 7 loses.

Team Bats came out determined and came away from the first quarter with a score of 3-0 against the Deer. Goals scored by #7 Taylor Murrel with assist by #8 Mady Nugent. Second goal scored by #6 Rory Rothnie with the assist by #4Emily Odegard. Their final goal of the first quarter was scored by #6 Rory Rothnie with the assist by #5 Meghan Hartley. Bats goal tender #00 Annika Macdonnald with 8 saves, and Team Deer goal tender #00 Julie Spooner with 15 saves.

The second quarter the Bats came away with four goals, making the score 7-0 for the team. Goals scored by #8 Mady Nugent with assist by goal tender # 01 Ella Friesen. Their second goal was scored by #18 Danita Stroup with assist by #17 Carlie Robinson. Their third goal was scored by #5 Meghan Hartley with assist by #19 Adrianna Santucci. The Bats final goal of the second quarter was by #18 Danita Stroup with assist by #7 Taylor Murrell. Bats goal tender #00 Annika Macdonnald with 9 saves, and Team Deer goal tender #00 Julie Spooner with 13 saves.

The third quarter Team Bats scored four goals against the Deer. Their first goal was scored by #7 Taylor Murrell with assist by #18 Danita Stroup. Their second goal was scored by #3 Devin Hartley with assist by #5 Meghan Hartley. Their third goal was scored by #7 Taylor Murrell. Bats final goal was scored by #14 Tara Loseth with assist by #15 Elli Forsselius and #5 Meghan Hartley. Making the score 11-0. Bats goal tender #01 Ella Friesen with 4 saves, and Team Deer goal tender #00 Julie Spooner with 18 saves.

The final quarter of the game Team Deer held the Bats to no goals, and were able to score one themselves! With their only goal of the game coming from #11 Ashleigh Lesser with assist by #19 Gaby Pol. The game ended with a score of 11-1 for Team Bats. Bats goal tender #01 Ella Friesen with 7 saves, and Team Deer goal tender #00 Julie Spooner with 10 saves.
