2018 ALL Draft sees 71 Players Selected
The Arena Lacrosse League completed its 2018 Draft today that saw Austin Divitcos selected 1st overall by the Peterborough Timbermen. Divitcos is a speedy left handed transition player who plays an aggressive defensive game, developed his game in the Markham/West Durham Minor system before playing with the Orangeville Northmen, a tenure that saw Divitcos play a role on a Minto Cup Championship team.
Face-off/Defensive specialist Mitch Gustavsen of the Toronto Beaches Junior A's was selected 2nd by the Oshawa Outlaws followed by Leland Powless of Six Nations, drafted by the hometown Snipers. Zach Bryant was selected 4th by the Timbermen who had acquired the pick from the St. Catharines ShockWave.
Slick moving offensive sniper Dereck Downs was chosen 5th by the Oshawa Outlaws, Matt Lee was selected 6th by Paris RiverWolves and Lee's Oakville Titan's summer teammate Nolan Apers was picked by the defending ALL Cup Champions Whitby Steelhawks to round out the first round.
Overall the draft saw 71 selections over 10 rounds and included many picks that also had their name called during the NLL draft in mid September as Arena Lacrosse League teams take gambles on whether players will stick with the pro's or need more seasoning in the ALL.
